My week started off very rough...Monday morning at 4am, Shawn woke up with chest pains that wouldn't go away. He took himself to the E.R. at 5am since I had to stay home with the kids. He ended up being admitted. Tuesday, they did a stress test. Because of his weight, he couldn't do the treadmill stress test so they did the dye injection with the injection to make his heart think he was on the treadmill. He had an allergic reaction and coded. No one called to let me know. I found out at 2pm when I went to visit him before work. So I was all to pieces. We found out that he was being transported to a bigger hospital in Petersburg on Wednesday. Wednesday, he was scheduled for a heart catheterization for Thursday. He had to have injections of heparin and some other meds. Thursday night he finally got the catheterization. We found out that he did not have a heart attack and that his arteries and heart are doing great. However, had he not went to the hospital when he did, his Dr fears that he may have had a heart attack. They also think that since his major arteries and vessels look good, there may be something going on with the minor blood vessels.
He now has to a.) take his blood pressure meds like he is supposed to.
b.) lose weight
c.) learn to deal with stress
Friday he got to come home and I went back to work.
I can honestly say that I have never been so scared in my life. This man is my heart. We have decided to make a major lifestyle change together. We are watching our sodium majorly and we will start walking several days a week together.
