The Spark is aptly named because, much like the fledgling precursor to a roaring flame, it must be nurtured, protected and fanned so that it may grow.
Right now, I feel the tiniest spark of two rocks connecting with sufficient force and friction. I'm still shivering cold -- days or weeks from my raging fire. But the tiny spark gives me hope -- and determination.
Today is day 4 of tracking/spinning/water. I got up early to attend my boot camp class. I did it FOR me but I did it BECAUSE of you.
Let me explain.
Last night, for the first time several months, I spent a substantial amount of time on this site. I checked up on old friends -- reading blogs and checking tickers for progress. Some have had even greater success in the months that I've been away. Some have had setbacks, like me, but they are still here. Others have faded away entirely.
ALL of them -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- inspired me to get up at 6 a.m. today and get moving. ALL of them inspired me to pack my lunch. ALL of them have inspired me to fill my water bottle to the brim.
We've all been on all of the points on this journey -- the highs of success, the frustration of setbacks and plateaus, and even the discouragement that leads us to throwing in the towel.
But if we stick TOGETHER, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
I've been treating Spark as a glorified calorie counter for the past several months. But it is really, first and foremost, a community, devoted to creating, nurturing and growing the tiniest of sparks into raging wildfires. I can't do that on my own -- and luckily with Sparkpeople, I don't need to.
