We bought the XBox 360 with Kinect last summer so that I could do the work out games at home... which I did...
for about a minute.
I don't like working out. I'd like to be a running, tread-milling, squatting, weight tossing wonder woman, but the reality is that I don't want to do push ups.... ever. It's just not my thing.
I was a figure skater, and am now a skier, but I have been dancing for myself for as long as I can remember. Dancing is a part of my fiber and make up. No training, no formality... just me sporting my groove when the spirit moves me. You might find me dancing anywhere that a good song comes on and at times that is not where you'd expect dancing.
My husband won huge points when he saw it happen for the first time and joined in, instead of making a run for it... or falling into a horrified state of embarrassment for me. Since then we have danced together at concerts, at retail locations, while I was trying on wedding dresses and while making dinner and so on and so on and so on and so on...
We didn't have a dance at our wedding... but we danced there too.
I have been dancing with our XBox 360/Kinect. I dance frequently until I'm out of breath, covered in sweat and wondering if my muscles will stop hurting at some point. I have those songs stuck in my head ALL the time. (Thus the title of this blog... )
I'm starting my day by doing something I enjoy. I'm doing something that makes me smile. Music soothes the soul and lightens the load.
I'm going to say that I'd recommend dancing in the living room to anyone. Dance without the games... dance with the dogs... challenge yourself to really MOVE!!!
