A week ago Sunday night I was sick... not the sniffly cold kind of sick. I'm talking SICK. I won't go into the nasty details here but suffice it to say I ended up at the hospital and it's taken nearly a week to get back on my feet.
Now the good thing that happened... I dropped a bunch of weight. Granted, not the best way BUT while I was so sick I thought about a lot of my food choices over the past weeks. That timely review showed me just how far from the plumb line of healthy eating I had drifted.
It's easy to do. We get bored with watercress sandwiches and tofu (an exaggeration, but you get my point). Now I have to find a way to propel myself forward from this point as I'm almost to my lowest weight since I first started gaining post-marriage ( 37 years ago!)
I admit it's given me a new "breath of life". I want to push into that new territory. I want to keep Onederland in my sights. I just have to keep my focus. I'm still not back to full exercise. My strength has been slow to return but I'm managing some short 10-15 minute sessions on the elliptical and I keep pushing to stay out of my chair.
I set a 3% goal for the next 6 weeks. Granted I may fall short but setting the goal will at least help me push toward it and that can't help but move me in the right direction. This journey is all about forward progress and I'm going to try to get on down the road a bit while I have some newfound enthusiasm and motivation.
This is the time of year you can either relax and reload for Fall OR you can continue to push through the summer knowing that your best opportunity for outdoor fitness and exercise is NOW.
Think I'm going to hit that elliptical for a quick 10!
