Finding a silver lining. Tales From 100# Down

Tuesday, May 06, 2014

A week ago Sunday night I was sick... not the sniffly cold kind of sick. I'm talking SICK. I won't go into the nasty details here but suffice it to say I ended up at the hospital and it's taken nearly a week to get back on my feet.

Now the good thing that happened... I dropped a bunch of weight. Granted, not the best way BUT while I was so sick I thought about a lot of my food choices over the past weeks. That timely review showed me just how far from the plumb line of healthy eating I had drifted.

It's easy to do. We get bored with watercress sandwiches and tofu (an exaggeration, but you get my point). Now I have to find a way to propel myself forward from this point as I'm almost to my lowest weight since I first started gaining post-marriage ( 37 years ago!)

I admit it's given me a new "breath of life". I want to push into that new territory. I want to keep Onederland in my sights. I just have to keep my focus. I'm still not back to full exercise. My strength has been slow to return but I'm managing some short 10-15 minute sessions on the elliptical and I keep pushing to stay out of my chair.

I set a 3% goal for the next 6 weeks. Granted I may fall short but setting the goal will at least help me push toward it and that can't help but move me in the right direction. This journey is all about forward progress and I'm going to try to get on down the road a bit while I have some newfound enthusiasm and motivation.

This is the time of year you can either relax and reload for Fall OR you can continue to push through the summer knowing that your best opportunity for outdoor fitness and exercise is NOW.

Think I'm going to hit that elliptical for a quick 10!

    Pink,

I'm delighted to see that you're doing better! Just take it easy as when your body is re-cooperating, it's very sensitive, and any little thing can upset the apple cart.

Thank you so much for giving me some motivation, as I've been re-cooperating, myself, for the past couple of days.

I'M PRESSING ON!

Be blessed,

You are a rock! You have the most willpower of anyone I have even seen.
You can do it! You will win the race to Onderland I am sure. It is a wonderful place where all things are possible! Happy Mother's Day! emoticon

I am so sorry to read that you have been so far under the weather. I hope you are on the mend -go slow and let your body tell you what you are ready for. On the other hand, congratulations on the weight loss and keeping pushing to meet that 3% goal.
Have a beautiful weekend!

I'm so emoticon that you've been sick and under the weather. However I'm happy that you had the foresight, to keep t0, pushing toward the mark!

Yes, we do get bored, sometimes, yet we don't recognize it, and we eat everything in sight, we complain that whatever DIEt that we happen to be on, isn't working and it gives us the permission to QUIT! You saw right through that, and you came out smelling like a rose! You just kept stepping out on faith, and God took care of the rest!!!

You go, GIRL!!!

Be blessed,

Sorry to hear you've been ill, but glad you're on the mend. Losing weight is the only benefit, but an eye opener is helpful, also. Take care and sleep tight.

I hope you are feeling much better, it is awful to be so sick even if you did get to lose a few pounds. On the other hand at least something good came out of it. You can do this!
