Hi fellow Sparklers! emoticon

Things are well in my world but getting busy.

We are leaving in a week for our 3-month trip. We are taking our smallish travel trailer to Michigan to visit family for 2 weeks, and then off to South Dakota and points west for a hiking and siteseeing vacation.

My husband is a geography/history major so this is "his" trip. But I am in for the ride!

I have a zillion things to do in the next week: pack clothes for cold weather, warm weather, exercising, hiking, and formal clothes for church or an unexpected funeral. TC's dad is nearly 90 and has been ailing for years so this is always on our minds.

I have to renew my license plate early, defrost the freezer, wash windows, put our internet/phone on vacation hold. My 93-year-old neighbor will turn 94 while we are gone, and we always get her a small gift certificate to the local grocery store as a gift. So I need to get there and buy a gift certificate. I have more things to do than I even know right now.

My goal: continue my fitness classes next week. If I am efficient, I can keep up my class schedule and get everything else done anyway.

My weight is holding; I'm around 139-141, which is over my ticker weight but which makes me wonder: Is being lower worth it? If I can maintain this, is it good enough? I'm still working on that question. I expect to be quite active during the next three months so we'll see. If I can keep my eating in check I can definitely lose weight. I'm just not sure (at this point) if I'm interested in doing so.

Today we walked 13 miles, and I've got over 30,000 steps. I just have to ask -- in what universe would that not be considered enough?

Ah! That's a blog I've started to write a number of times: How fit do I NEED to be?

You're taking us all with you on this trip, right?

You look great- are obviously healthy & feeling great. Don't stress about a # on a scale. I bet you are way fitter than that # could show. Great inspiration! Looking forward to trip details and pictures!

Wow..30,000 steps and 13 miles. That is great. I increased my original goal weight to a higher weight. I am happy with it.

Good luck with all of your travel prep. Your trip sounds great.

I heard someone pose the question a couple of weeks ago, 'At what weight do you feel free?'

Free to eat in moderation but still enjoy the sweet things in life, free to move as you want your body to move, freedom from constant thought about calories, free to live as you want to live without making everything about 'can'ts, don'ts, wants'.

You go where you want to go, you travel, you hike & you exercise and eat healthy. Find the number that allows you to be free ;)

    The most important question is:
How do you feel?

I'm sure you'll manage to get everything done and set off on your trip with excitement. You always walk/run circles around me! I can't see that you need to walk more each day, and only you can decide whether you are willing to eat less to reach and maintain a certain lower number on the scale. Happy and healthy is more important than a particular number. Can't wait to hear all about the trip!

    Oh my aching feet!
I was amazed we could walk a ten mile day (plus a few 9s and 8s) when we were in Paris.
That is small potatoes to you two.
Thirteen miles is more than enough in anyone's world!
And I would kill to get down to and stay at 140-
how tall are you?
DH and I have started talking about taking turns planning trips now that we are able to travel a bit more.

I think that determining what's "enough" is key for each of us: lowest sustainable weight given the amount of time we can devote to this project and still "have a life"!! Because having a healthy life if the purpose, right?

Your travel plans sound like lots of fun!!
