I did this test for BL25 on Saturday.It wasn't too difficult to organise. I mapped a walk around my district so that I established a one mile route and got round it in 18 minutes which I didn't think was too bad. I wrote down exactly where I went so that when I redo the test I'll be comparing like with like. The same applies to the step-ups. I have a step but even on its highest setting I don't think it was quite 12" so I will repeat the test on the same bit of equipment so that my results will be valid. The thing that really surprised me was that I did better with the modified push-ups than with the crunches. I think following the SP guidelines had something to do with it as I have never done crunches properly before. And as a result my back isn't aching! I entered and submitted my results on-line to BLC but I also wrote them down for my own interest and comparative purposes.
Overall, I didn't think my fitness levels were too bad given my age and recent exerciseless weeks! But there's certainly room for improvement and the thought of the results will be added motivation to sustain regular exercise and activity, not just over the next 11 weeks but as a long term commitment.
