I started the day in the garden. She wanted the dead stuff cut awat but on three of the five butterfly bushes I barely had to touch them and they came out of the ground.
Sure hope they aren't expensive.
The rosebushes look nicer now. So much dead wood, probably because of the HOT summer followed by the cold winter.
After a few hours of that, I load my trike on the car and head the 40 miles up to Frederick MD to pick up my packet for tomorrow's race. When I was done with that I set out to ride the course . Except Market St was just a crawl. Not my fault. I was keeping up with traffic. Once I cleared that mess ... it's Saturday night, what do you want? ... I was doing very well but the sky turned very dark. A flash of lightning was all it took for me to recognize a street that went past the Fairgrounds for me to head for the car. And I was didn't get soaked. Of course it didn't rain all that much either, but still, discretion is the better part of staying dry.
Tomorrow, alarm goes off at 4:45, out the door by 5:15, hit Frederick by 6:00.
That's the plan anyway. That was the plan last year too but I didn't wake until 6:30 last year. That is the only race I have ever just missed. I have had to bag a couple for good reason, but never just missed one (and that was an element of my weird dream the other night).
The trike remains on the car for now. I will take it with me and if I am feeling it, I'll take another ride.
