Wk 160 Weigh In

This week was a little better than last week. I have had a few nights of good sleep, but it seems like I can't put 2 good nights back to back! But I'm going to continue going to bed each night, keep working on that sleep. Unlike going to the gym, working on sleep is pretty easy to do. I just have to lie there and close my eyes... I'm pretty good at that.

Anyway, so my back has been having it's ups and downs but it was less twitchy overall this week. Still, anytime I have to bend over a little it lets me know that it doesn't appreciate it with a quick electrical jolt! I just have to always remember to be careful and to move smoothly, keeping my shoulders and hips aligned; avoid the twisting!

So let's get to this weeks' numbers:

Weight : 224.6
Lost : 1.4
Total : 95.4

One week up, one week down. The roller coaster is getting to be just about as old as I feel. On to another week, another opportunity to see if I can lose a little more or if I'm just going to gain like I seem to do every other week.

    Good loss Ken.

Here are a few things that help my aching back to get sleep. I agree some sound insane, but for me they work.

Not eating anything after 600 pm. All my insides digest and empty, leaving less mass/weight in the stomach area.

Drinking only water between 6-10 or so (bed time).

Stretching back and legs before getting into bed.

Popping 2 advil and an aleve just before bed.

I have been able to (at least temporarily) stop sleeping on the couch sitting up and am getting decent sleep (6-7 hours). As you know, prior to this new found regimen, I was averaging 3-4 hours and having to get out of bed to finish the night on the couch sitting.

Have you thought about holistic methods like acupunture? Good luck. I know it's agony.

Hope you get better or can find a solution.

    Good to hear you are still at it Ken, haven't been on SP for page still has snowflakes on it...time to get it updated huh? Take care of your back, back problems are no fun! Been there many times so I'm speaking from experience.... A couple of suggestions on the sleeping... First don't watch TV in bed, keep the bedroom for sleeping only and drink some milk before going to bed. There is actually something in milk that helps you sleep. Okay, I'm done, hope your week is good and your back gets better soon!

    I know the feeling... I'm constantly losing and gaining the same 2 pounds lately.... Depressing... got to find the thing that makes me resist the weight loss.

    Sorry to hear about you back pain emoticon . Sleep is so important in weight loss. Glad to hear you were able to get some sleep and were able to lose some weight. emoticon

    I wish sleep was just about going to bed and then falling asleep! emoticon Do you suffer from insomnia at times or is it just that you stay awake too late?
Good for you for the weight loss! Hey, let's focus on the positive. You have lost weight and that is good! I know this week can be equally good!

    Hey Ken so happy you got some sleep, the day seems very long without it. Congrats on the loss.
It is so hard to remember to be careful when moving, sometimes it's done and then you remember you weren't supposed to bend that way.

I am happy to hear you have lost this week...quite an accomplishment when you're not feeling 100%..At least I wouldn't. I would probably get down, feel sorry for myself & eat way too, too much! emoticon emoticon
