So I am a single mom with an only child - and I totally admit I probably spoil her in several areas. And one of those is that we go a little nuts for her birthday every year. I LOVE throwing a fun, themed, pinterest driven party in the backyard (May birthdays are great for that). And, on top of her birthday being a special day, we were finally together as a family on her first birthday (she spent the first year in foster care though I was able to visit every 3 months), and her birthday party falls on Mother's Day weekend every year. So we go nuts .
One year it was a pirate party and I built pirate ships out of big moving boxes. For legos last year it was a hoot. This year is WIld Kratts....which means I am set to sew 11 "Creature Power Suits" this weekend (if you don't know what that is - ask someone who is or who is related to anyone under the age of 10). It will be so fun, and I am REALLY looking forward to it.
What does this have to do with weight loss? Lots of little things. 1) I am less focused this year on making a GF cake that I can eat...I like the baking part so if I can't eat it then no big deal. 2) I find myself increasingly focused on setting good food examples for the kids....like extra caterpillars made from grapes instead of extra cookies. Good stuff.
I am looking forward to a fun weekend of party prep.....wish me luck!
