So, I've had this vague idea in the back of my head that I would some day run a 5k. I got on the treadmill earlier and tried to run, but honestly, it hurts my knees (both have been broken in the past from car wrecks).
Wednesday I was scrolling through the preprogrammed workouts on the elliptical at the gym and found a 5k program. I thought, 'why not?' and set myself on a decent pace. 47 minutes later I crossed the proverbial finish line. I was sweating so bad my earbuds were barely hanging in there. I really pushed the last have a kilometer because the time was running out, but I DID IT!!! What an incredible feeling to know that my body has the capacity to do that.
I took yesterday 'off' from working out, but still managed to walk to soccer instead of driving. It was good for the mini, the dog and me to get out and get some fresh air. This morning, I did another 5k on the elliptical. I think I was at 49 minutes today but I'm still feeling the burn from Wednesday so I didn't push myself quite as hard.
I am more motivated than ever to keep this going. I am loving the changes in endurance that I can feel, and my boss said he could tell I'm getting leaner. My weight may not have hit major changes yet, but I look like I'm slimming up. It's great!
