May Day & Spark changes

Thursday, May 01, 2014

Well, I've turned my program up-side-down, analyzed this, changed that, still trying to figure out some other things . . . but over all, I'm happy to be making good progress.

I have discovered that even though it's within my daily range, my main meal is around 7PM or later, after DH gets home. That's when he has his main meal. He loves to cook, as a stress release. Even though I keep my portion sizes smaller, it's just too late as we go to bed around 9. . . . and I'm still digesting. I'll figure it out.

or not???

So far as the changes on SparkPeople - specifically losing the huddle and active links to team members pages & blogs, etc. I didn't even know the changes were coming.

Like many of us, my Spark time is limited and I just don't have time to go hunting for team members blogs . . . . and some of my teams have over 100 members!!!! I can't add them all as friends!

Where is the 'official' announcement about the changes? I've been looking all over the place trying to find if SP added some new feature that will allow us to keep in touch with our team mates (maybe a Team feed? similar to our Friend Feed????)

Any reason why 7 pm dinner is too late? Does it keep you from getting to sleep, or interrupt your sleep? If you're feeling good and sleeping well, don't worry otherwise about when you're eating. Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full.

Good for you on the progress! As for the late meal... they say it really doesn't matter when you eat... it all digests the same. At least that's what I've read/heard somewhere. :) What's more important... dinner with hubby or digesting earlier? LOL! :)

As for the changes. I knew they were coming. There was a post in the team leader's team... I posted an "alert" on my teams. I should have shared it everywhere. :)

The blog links are back (yay) but I believe the wall is now the new huddle... it's just that it appears some people might post on the wall about something that they normally would have created a thread for. I've seen that already. Oh well.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The coaches told the leaders about the changes but I was unable to view the video telling about I had no idea what was going to happen. Many complained when the blogs were removed so they are back now:)

It does seem like a general announcement would have happened before the changes. I did see an article on changes....but many probably did not see that either....

We got SOME access to blogs - it is how I found yours - but it is still not really as nice or easy as it was before.

They continue to cut back on what this site is about in order to have more advertising space. We are supposed to be happy about this? RUBBISH! emoticon

emoticon It is not the same as it was before, Exactly, but the Team Blogs are back on the right hand side of the Team Page. There was a YouTube Video, and I may have seen a Daily Spark Blog about the changes.
emoticon As far as the Team Huddle, many Teams have had a Thread that asked you to post an Emoticon if/after you Huddled with your Team. That Thread can now be used as the "Official Huddle" I think.
emoticon All Change is difficult, but we can choose to approach it as a Challenge with a Positive Attitude, and trust that -- Eventually -- we will adapt.

Hi, Cat - a quick thought about your suppers. If something MUST be served fresh, this won't work, but so many things are yummy (and sometimes even better) as leftovers. So what if on a day off, DH starts cooking for the next day! That way, you could have it ready essentially the minute he walks in the door and eat earlier. Then, after you eat, he cooks ahead again.....

I can sympathize with you on eating late! For awhile my DH was having to work later than normal & I was suffering some serious digestive issues! Finally, i decided that asmuch as I hated to, I was going to have to eat earlier on my own. Thankfully, that was justa temporary situation thoughand we're back to eating dinner together at the regular time. I hope someone can offer up another alternative for you.

As for the changes on the team pages - i am missing the scrolling blogs & the huddles. I hope they will reconsider.

Hope all is well with you otherwise. emoticon

I find it interesting that blogging is not considered being active on any team. That is how I interact with people the most. If commenting on a person's blog or page is not being an active member of the team, I'm afraid I'll just have to show up as being inactive most of the time. Many of the teams that I belong to do not have message boards that interest me, or they are the same that other teams have. It is a waste of my time to post the exact same information on every team. I am far more interested in their blogs and pages.

All I saw was a YouTube video on it. I want the feed back too.

I know, it is REALLY frustrating when they take away the best bits. emoticon

Official announcement was in the Daily Blog.

I agree with you. Hoping at least the blogs come back on the team pages!
