Feeling like an addict

Thursday, May 01, 2014

Being pregnant is really no excuse. This week has been BAD. I got a bag of Easter jelly beans and I have been measuring them out with a 1/4th cup. A rather full 1/4th cup. Then I got supplies to make chocolate chip milkshakes. That is a big no no for me to bring chocolate chips into the house. My rule of thumb is buy what I need for a recipe and then they are POOF. Then lets add that I have been avoiding the scale. This morning I bit the bullet and got on the evil scale. Ugh the number was BAD. Should not be this bad this EARLY. I am highly good at gaining weight fast given my history. I probably have to do more than the average person to keep weight off. I know this. So going crazy and eating everything insight or going out and eating everything in site is BAD. Did I mention I got a medium blizzard yesterday on my way home from work when I was planning on making dinner 30 minutes later. No I forgot that one. So I got on the scale, got instantly depressed. Grabbed the rest of my chocolate chips and jelly beans, unwrapped them and poured them directly into the outdoor garbage can and then got in my car and went to the gym. I hate when ppl tell me, pregnancy is a 39 week excuse to eat what you have been wanting to eat for years. No it's really not please don't tell me that. My bad angel will listen to u.

Ok I have 1 more rant. On PACT theres a place on there where u take a pic of your fruit or veggie and ppl rate that you did indeed eat a fruit or veggie. I can not stand when ppl take a picture of orange juice and it shows on the container "100% juice" or green goddess. Really??? really??? DENY! Unless you are squeezing your own orange juice, it is not a serving of fruit. I love orange juice, I don't drink it much cuz it's loaded with calories and sugar. Bolthouse and Odawalla have as much sugar in them as several donuts. So no those are not servings of fruit. Pick up an apple!

Ok time for work, have a good day!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You are right; being pregnant is no excuse for letting yourself eat whatever. I never did lose all the weight from my two pregnancies, twenty some years ago. You have much knowledge of yourself and your eating habits, and will make the right choices for you and your baby.

Yeah, I agree with the person who said the baby may not need the jellybeans, LOL! How about a fruit and yogurt smoothie instead of the blizzard or choc chip smoothie? Similar in texture and taste, but healthier for you and kidlet. (My addiction is low-fat frappuccinos, but that's another story.)

Well, I love OJ so I carefully pour 6 oz. for myself in the morning and that's all I have. And I always get the kind with pulp. ;)

Just keep doing the best you can, sometimes you will have a blizzard or jelly beans or whatever, but you also have hormones going insane right now and at least you are going to the gym so just keep doing your best! I gained a LOT when I was pg, and to this day, I'm working on getting my body back, some months more successfully than others. But always working is the key. You will be okay. Don't be so hard on yourself, try to just focus on the new little life that you will get to enjoy in just a few short months from now. That one little person is going to change your life, and you will love every minute of it. :)

I'm a nurse so I will definitely not tell you to eat whatever. LOL. That little one really doesn't really need jelly beans and you know it. It's hard to pass up though. I love jellybeans. Especially Jelly Bellys. I have to tell myself I don't need any. I look at them every time I shop though. It is an addiction, like you said.

My doctor does not allow fruit juice of any kind. He says to eat the fruit, not drink the juice. I miss orange juice but I like a good orange.

According to the standards for a school lunch, juice counts as a fruit. They are only allowed 1 fruit serving on their tray, but can have as many veggies as they want. Sad.

I'm sure your dr told you how much is healthy to gain each week. Know yourself and listen to your body. Pregnancy is not an excuse to eat jelly beans all day but at the same time, your body will have weird cravings. Give yourself a taste of those cravings from time to time cause the deprevation will make you cranky. You'll just need to find a place that allows you to purchase your crave in single servings. Great job throwing away the bags of temptation!

I didn't know you were pregnant! Congrats girl! I know it has to be hard to fight off those junk food cravings but it seems like you know what to do! And...I totally agree with the OJ or really any fruit juice for that matter. We don't have that stuff in our house, it really is disgusting how much sugar they put in that stuff.
