thinking about a new FITBIT, any advice???

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

so, i am addicted to my FITBIT emoticon ... i love it, but i am wondering if i should get a new one. emoticon . there is nothing wrong with the one i have, but they don't make it anymore, i think it is called an, "ULTRA". it clips on your bra or pants, it tracks steps emoticon , stairs emoticon , intensity emoticon , calories burned emoticon , and sleep emoticon .

i have seen the "FLEX", which is a wrist band thingy. does anyone have one? are they really durable emoticon ?

are they really accurate? what if you are doing something where your arms don't swing much? or if you are driving emoticon ?

or how about if you are just moving your hands, like being on the computer emoticon ? does it record that as a step emoticon ?

i work a lot with my arms at work, hospital... lifting, pushing, pulling. emoticon does it record movement like that? does it record intensity?

can you swim with it? emoticon

what do you like about it? emoticon

what do you not like about it? emoticon

ANY and ALL advice would be great emoticon ! thanks! emoticon

I had the flex until i lost it and LOVED it. It was replaced with the Force and I refuse to return it due to the recall until I figure out what to replace it with. I think it will be a flex just was hoping they would come out with something similar to the force. I really love the wrist models better than the others as some days I would just forget to put it on. The wrist models are like watches you know they are not there.

I am such a FITBIT fan I can recommend them enough. any model is awesome. Can't wait to see what you end up with emoticon

You can definitely shower with it, I wear mine in the shower all the time. I have the Fitbit Flex. I have had it for 10 months and the band just split, but I emailed them and since there is a one year warranty, they sent me a new one no questions asked. It holds a charge 5-7 days. It is farily accurate - I think better walking/running than on the elliptical. However, if you are not moving your arms it will not track. It will not track just sitting at your computer or even sitting at your desk trying to trick it by moving your arms and legs. I don't think the calorie count is that accurate, I really rely on it for the step count and to motivate me to get moving. I am a fan.

I have a flex and I love it. It seems to be accurate. The bands are pretty durable. I had one band for 10 months before it started to split, and i'm on my second one that came with my flex. As far as I can tell, it does not really take into account arm movements, and you can set the sensitivity. I have a desk job, so sitting at the computer working on it, the flex doesn't count that as steps. From what I hear you can swim with it. I don't know if it tracks the movements for swimming or not. The band will get gross though, there's no easy way to dry the inside of the band out unless you take the actual fitbit out of the band and let it air dry. I've accidentally left mine on when I showered, so the actual fitbit is waterproof.
