I am not a very good blogger but I feel compelled to share about the person who motivates me the most when it comes to exercise. Her name is Silvia. I see Silvia at the gym at 5 AM Monday thru Friday (if I make it). Silvia is 80 years old. When I first met her she was using a walker as she was rehabilitating from hip surgery. She was determined to lose the walker and even on days when movement was painful she was at the gym exercising. In a few months she did indeed lose the walker.
A month later she was with her husband who was driving and blacked out hitting a tree. Silvia's ankle was crushed and required surgery. Her husband was fine after an adjustment to his pace maker. As soon as Silvia was released she was back at the gym every day again with the walker. Thorough perseverance she has lost the walker and though she is moving slowly she is walking on her own.
When my alarm goes off in the morning and I want to turn over and forget going to the gym I remember that there is an 80 year old woman who will be there. She is there no matter what her challenges are. I remember I am 30 years younger and I don't have any physical aliments. Therefore, I get out of bed and get to the gym.
Thank Silvia you are my Hero!
