I'm still here. I had to drop out of the 5% challenge with all that's going on. I'm still exercising, still cognizant of the choices I'm making. Checking in and typing what I'm doing just seemed to be too much, if that makes sense. It's such a small thing to post to a board but at the same time it was a big relief to give it up...just one less thing to do...for the time being. I'm hoping to get myself together by the summer challenge.
Meanwhile, I'm reading our book club's selection for next month: Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. SO. GOOD. It's not nearly as dry as the name would imply. Think lost tribes. Think humans being natural born runners. Think about a story line woven with history, science, and a narrative to pull it all together. It's so well written, that I'm in complete awe.
One thing I read about this man's research last night, was that he found a very small percentage of elite runners get their protein from animals. One of the trainers told him to try salad for breakfast one morning and just see how he feels. I've done vegetables and vegan for breakfast but never a salad. I'm happy to report that it was quite satisfying. I also read a blog entry about one woman's attendance at the THRIVE conference. The day they spent on wellness kind of blew my mind. Women are supposed to get no more than 25g of sugar a day. I looked at the cereal I've been eating and have been getting 18g just at breakfast. Oy. I definitely need to make some changes.
So that's it in a nutshell. It's also nothing at the same time. I have some major catching up with sharing to do. I haven't even told you about the rest of the Silver Comet Trail.
In other news, we celebrated the doggies' birthday...with a hike. Yes, we gave all the doggies the same birthday. Holly and Maggie are 14 and Shine is about 6.
