It's funny, but ...

Getting back to sparking and blogging is really helping my outlook on everything. I also have my other half, whose name is ARAVINE here on SP, with me... and we are getting the time that we have so dreadfully lacked to rebuild our relationship without the kids in the middle of it all.

I love our kids, but sometimes you need a space in which you (the parents) and they (the kids) can grow independently of one another. So we left the house in Missouri in the care of the kids. Our daughter and her husband really cannot afford a place on their own. If certain things changed, maybe, but I will leave the rest of that unsaid. Our son will be off on his own in the Air Force in July (unless they change his ship date again).

Mark and I have gotten back to the habits of finishing each other's sentences and voicing what the other is thinking. We are also making efforts to eat better, together, and support each other in good exercise habits as well. We have the space and the time to do this together and it is a blessing.

My weekly weigh in day is Monday now. I am working on the 10% at a time goals as SP suggests. Even though I have less than 15# to lose, it is still easier for me to think in terms of small bites, rather than huge mouthfuls. So this morning, I weighed in at 156.4, down 0.4# from last week. It's not a huge loss, but it is still steady downward progress and I'm happy with that. Especially considering we had a science fiction convention in there and several days of not eating or exercising.

So my next goal is 1.44 lbs for next week. I have a focus and goal again. That really helps drive me.

I am super excited about running the Go Girl 5K on 24 May in Columbia MO. We are going back home for the week of our son's graduation, it was also originally supposed to be his ship date for the Air Force. I just don't know how we are going to cram everything into that short week. It will be nice to be back, though.

I have bumped my half marathon goal to May of 2015. It will either be the Hippie Girl half in Hillsboro, OR or the Go Girl Run Half in Columbia, MO. Most likely it will be the former since it's closer to where I am now... but the Go Girl is the Go Girl and therefore a favorite.

Sometimes, you just have to cut the apron string and go. thank your son and you for coming into the Military family.

You should look to see if there is a Blue Star Mother's group in your area. They are a great support system. I would not have made it through the 11 month deployment to Afghanistan without them.

Again, Thank you and your son.
