Well, there go the outdoor plans for clean-up, fix-up week! It's been raining for hours, not so conducive to gathering up junk in the yard for the crews to pick up tomorrow. I have one bag ready to go; oh well, that's better than nothing.
Since the weather is chilly and wet, and since I got my chores done yesterday, I'm reading all sorts of SparkPeople articles that have been lingering in my email. Checking in here is sort of my touchstone for healthy living. Even though you can't see me, I know you're out there encouraging me and offering support. One article I read dealt with getting rid of your "skinny jeans", all the old items that no longer fit, but that you've held onto for that magical day when you can wear them again. Made sense to me, especially as I've had to embrace the reality that at 62 years, no matter what I do I'll never look like I'm 21 again. The writer talks about letting go of the past and the self-condemning attitudes that are a part of it. She encourages us to look instead at the present and future. To love our current selves. Hmmm, I may have another project to work on this afternoon! (the attitude changing project is on-going and never-ending)
