Lausanne 20k not exactly

Sunday, April 27, 2014

the Lausanne 20 k was incredibly better organized than the Paris half (well this is Switzerland after all) and we did leave at 6:15 and we had til 7:40 to get to the 11-k mark or be cut off from the top 4 k loop. well it was very hilly and we missed it by about 2 minutes. to tell the truth, although slightly disappointed we were also pretty relieved, because we missed the worst hill — and the ones we had were quite horrible enough, thank you. plus just as we started down it started to rain.

and then the shuttle bus back to the parking at the university was a 20 minute wait and then an hour drive back to Liz's daughter's in Frribourg in terrible pouring rain, freezing, and then — hot showers, white wine and dinner at — midnight.
anyway, it was worth it, i think. and we did do 10:26 miles in 2h17, with those hills and not in peak shape. and we can all move today.
