Co-Workers (venting needed)

Saturday, April 26, 2014

I have a co-worker with absolutely no boundaries or tact. I do my very best to be nice to him regardless because clearly he never learned differently, but sometimes I just want to scream!!

I am the event planner and all my other co-workers know that if a bride has questions or if someone stops by without an appointment they are told to make an appointment with me and/or direct ALL questions to me. The reason for this is so I know what each person it told to avoid me pretty much having it out with the party planner/MOH/Mother of Bride or Groom, etc.

We have a steamer that belongs to our curator. It is her PERSONAL steamer that she allows us to use for museum things. We keep this in our laundry room. I thought I heard the dryer running and I am thinking...I didn't throw anything in. There is a wedding in an hour. I'd never do that...so I walked into our ballroom to investigate. There I see the party planner steaming all their table cloths with our steamer while the rest are in the dryer to get out the wrinkles! These items are for museum use only and cannot be lent out to just anybody. If someone starts a fire or gets burned by the steamer we are liable. When I questioned the party planner she kept insisting that my co-worker, whom she knew by name, told her that it was perfectly ok to use these items.

Whether he knew or not that the steamer belonged to our curator and was for museum use only is an issue, but the bigger issue is that I just can't have people telling renters one thing and then me being blindsided for not knowing and looking like a complete jerk when I get upset over them not respecting our rules and property!!

ARGH!!

Hoping the rest of the night goes more smoothly.

Deep breaths... in and out... in and out! Breathe! haha. Easier said than done I know (especially because I was getting fired up just reading about this!)

Unfortunately, we can't choose our co-workers (unless you're the boss).

Fingers crossed for the rest of your night!

Oh boy, it times like this that make me so thankful that I don't work out of the home! Oh, and I do work hard at home. emoticon Some people will do anything to use what they want and hope they don't get caught. Sounds like this was one of those kind of people. Sorry that you had to go through that! I hope that you have alot nicer week-end than how that was!

Some folks do their own thing and not think of the others. Sorry you have to work with one of them!
