Walked away from a cupcake

Saturday, April 26, 2014

I attended a lovely wedding this morning and they had a cupcake reception afterward. It was a casual gathering with a center table filled with beautifully displayed cupcakes for people to select. But since I'm just getting over last week's extra sugar with birthday and Easter celebration, I decided to admire them with my eyes instead of eating one. I weighed my desire to stay on track and avoid cravings against the splurge of a treat. My cravings have dropped off enough that I was able to resist. And actually I didn't feel deprived because I wasn't hungry at the time. Woo Hoo!

Today, I realized where my motivation comes from. That good feeling that we all notice when we've eaten healthy for just a little while. I love that good feeling and want more of it. I love it even more than food. You were just recovered from your sugar eating were already feeling better than before. You choose not to eat the cupcake. Feeling better was the choice you made. You chose something positive that made you feel good.
    Way to go!
