I silently wept while standing on the corner at the MVR as I watch her parallel park. She couldn't find the hazards lights. There is nothing more stressful than seeing your baby struggle and not be able to jump in and help make things all better. Today, it was sink or swim for my daughter as she left me all alone to take her driving test.
She passed on the first try and now she can officially drive to school without a chaperone! Her grandma passed down her gently used car so she is excited to have HOT WHEELS. I am scared to death but THRILLED to see all of the hard work I have invested into motherhood are starting to pay off. She is sweet as pie, a great student, athlete and soon to be gainfully employed. After her softball game, she took her baby brother to McDonald's. I know that is not a "healthy" choice as far as food goes but she knew he would be excited to ride with her alone and she was willing to share that moment with him.
My kid is a constant reminder that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. There were challenges along the way but my focus and determination to raise a well-rounded child who is academically successful, athletic, spiritual, and a positive contributor to her community is the greatest reward.
I am happy because her success today was a just the boost I needed.
Happy and healthy wishes to you!!!!
