Ok, so I've been on SparkPeople a little over 3 years, but this is my first blog post. I suppose I'll do a state of affairs/about me kind of thing.
I feel like I say this every time and then lose steam, but I want to finally achieve my goals this time. I'm getting married in 443 days. My baby sister is getting married in 51. I'm hoping that's sufficient motivation to actually DO IT this time around.
I have been very pleased so far with the money I spent on the Spark Activity Tracker. (I couldn't get it to sync for a few days, but I figured out the problem, and I was very pleased to see it updated all of those days' progress, AND gave me my trophies for it! What a hardworking little device!) Trying to get the default 6,000 steps a day has been a good baby step towards getting back into the groove. Some days it's harder than most, especially when I get home from school and all I want to do is veg out in front of the TV. I envy my dad who has a treadmill to walk on while he watches TV. Kind of hard in my tiny apartment on the 2nd floor. Side note: My dad has also been on a weight loss journey (one of several), but he has lost 30+ pounds at this point, and I am so proud of him. His weight has gone up and down and up again my whole life, but I think this time it's going to stick. I see this snow ball effect in him. He has so much more energy (it doesn't hurt that he's happy to be retiring at the end of this school year); he even suggested we do a choreographed father-daughter dance for my wedding! I couldn't even get my fiancé to agree to something like that :)
I am SO glad that Spring is FINALLY here! I've been (inconsistently) working out with some coworkers after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today my coworker and I took advantage of the weather and walked at a local park. With her almost two-year-old in tow, it wasn't as cardio intensive a workout as it could have been, but it was just nice to be out and moving.
I also sponsor our high school's Yoga Club, which I love. We meet Mondays after school, which is a great way to unwind after a stressful first day back from the weekend. I have such amazing officers (they're also in the dance classes I assist in)!
Ok, one of my goals is to go to bed earlier and get more sleep, so I better stop the rambling (alarm goes off in 7 1/3 hours). I don't know if anyone will actually read this, but it does feel good to get my thoughts written down. Good night!
