A is for ABOVE and BEYOND...Does competition give you an extra push? Yes, it gives me an incentive to do well and to keep on improving.

B is for BLC rounds... Newbie?(first BLC round) Oldie?(1-3 rounds) Goldie?(long time BLCer)? Former BLC team(s)? I started for two rounds as a Shamrock Sheriff and am grateful to the team; I then moved into leadership with the Violet Team (and discovered that leadership drives me nuts) and now I am a new tiger. Fitting, because I'm a rather large feline!

C is for CHILDREN...you have? I have two. They are middle-aged balding men.

D is for DOWNFALL...what's you're biggest temptation/excuse? White carbs--a simple saltine cracker is, for me, the burning towers of Troy, the Nemean Lion, the Augean Stables, the glare of Medusa.

E is for EARLY Bird or Night Owl? Both--either---I like to be in bed (with book) by 11 PM and get up luxuriously late when I can.

F is for FURRY FRIENDS...you have? 5 magnificent cats: Blixa, Bongo, Oslo, Mrs. Palmer, and Zoey Elizabeth

G is for GROCERIES...what do you fill your cart with? I try to stick with fresh and unprocessed food.

H is for HOME...where do you call home? Columbus, Ohio

I is for INSPIRE...who or what is your role model/inspiration? My role model is the Queen of England for her unflinching sense of duty but my inspiration comes from great artists--especially poets and composer.

J is for JOB...What do you do for a living? I teach English literature at Football Univ.

K is for KEEP IT SIMPLE...What's your healthy focus when short on time? Sticking the right things into my gaping maw.

L is for LOG...Do you use the Nutrition and Fitness trackers? Most days I do; some days I am overwhelmed with too much work.

M is for MARRIED, Single, Involved? Married for 41 years.

N is for NAME...What's the meaning behind your sparkname? It's a musical notation that means slowly but with zest and gusto. I'm a slow learner and a slow loser and I must accept that. I can embrace my slowness and not let it discourage me.

O is for OUNCES...How many ounces of water do you consume on a daily basis? At least 64 and sometimes up to 80 or more.

P is for PRODUCE...How many fruits and veggies do you consume daily? 3/3 and sometimes more veggies.

Q is for QUOTE...what's your favorite? There are so many!
"Don't stay in bed unless you can make money in bed"--George Burns
"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Tea cleared my head and left me with no misapprehensions"--The Duke of Wellington
"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." --Micheal Pollan

R is for ROUTINE...Average number of days and minutes you exercise weekly? I try to get out to the gym for 60 minutes at least 5 days a week; I try to walk out doors when the weather is good for at least 30-60 minutes at a time.

S is for STATURE...How tall are you? 5 feet, 4 inches

T is for TIME...What time zone are you in? Eastern

U is for UNWIND...What is your favorite pass time or hobby? reading!

V is for VACATION...If you could travel anywhere, what destination would you choose? An imperial tour of Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, sounds nice today.

W is for WEIGHT WORKOUT...Do you follow a consistent ST program? Yes, I do. Typically 3x a week.

X is for "X" MARKS THE SPOT...What do you want to see happen these 12 weeks, other than the scale move? I want to make sure I keep up my program! Right now if I can sustain my momentum, I will be happy.

Y is for YESTERDAY...Do you dwell on poor choices or allow them to push you forward? A bit of both. My mood dictates me. I try to stay positive but some experience with wallowing in negativity makes good moods that much more precious.

Z is for ZERO...name one weight loss tool you couldn't live without? Spark People!

What a lovely blog. My son is 43 and I have six cats -- and I love them all with all my heart. I also lose slow, although I did very well last BLC. Looking forward to getting to know you.

emoticon there! I am a slow loser as well. However everything that I have been reading, it is better to lose slowly than to quickly. I'd rather be losing slowly than yo-yo-ing which is where I am at right now

Looking forward to being on this team with you!

This is one of the favourite blogs I have read in spark people for over a month now.

What a great idea doing an alphabet like this. Not only was it a very inspirational and motivational read, it was coupled with some interesting facts about you and through it I have read a little more about you and feel I now know you a little better than I did before.

It has inspired me to do something similar in the future in here once I have managed to get another three or four pieces in. I think an hour of my music in here will certainly say something about me too.

I wondered if you were applying to the musical term of Adagio con brio (Slow with brightness) or if it referred to the character of many adagios when written. (they often sound a little sad - Berber's "Adagio for strings", or Albinoni's "Adagio in G minor" for example.)

Then again the modern Italian meaning of Adagio could also apply - Adagio today is interpreted in conversation as Carefully.

I have never written an "Adagio con brio" - you are now even giving me some ideas on that front too.

Once again - great blog that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Cheers love respect as always

Trev

I am a slow loser too, but in a way it is nice to be steady. I look forward to hearing how you and your feline friends are going.

That's a whole lot of cats you have! Taking it slow is usually better any way because then you know it's real weight leaving you!
