Cheeseburger cupcakes

Thursday, April 24, 2014

I must admit that I enjoyed the creative part of making the cheeseburger looking cupcakes yesterday....It tapped into my creative side. The cupcakes truly looked like little cheeseburgers. And the fun part was grandson Sean was just too excited when he came home from school and saw them. And they won! They won the Golden Spoon award. So he was just so excited as were his parents as they said they all were shocked as he never wins anything. So he thanked me a bunch.

Of course the Lyla just wanted to eat all of them. So sad as the first thing this morning when she woke up was wondering when she could have more cupcakes...oops. I feel so bad as all she thinks and talks about is food and when she can have her next meal/snack, etc. She has her annual check up next week and I am praying that the doctor will say something to her Mommy. I just love her so much and don't want her to suffer like I did. I told DH that I remember to this day how painful it was to be fat.....I just don't want her to suffer what I did.

I do hope you all have a wonderful day.
Sun is out here but chilly!

Very darling cupcakes! I loved sugar as a kid, I wasn't fat then but those cravings led to problems later in life.

Those are the cutest cupcakes I ever saw, truly! How did you do that?

I'm sorry your granddaughter is obsessed with food. My granddaughter is chubby too but we have learned the more anyone tries to help her with it the more she will eat.

I was a fat teenager and my mom hounded me about my weight. It led to sneaking food and getting even fatter. My mom may have had the purest motives but usually the more you pester someone about food, or any bad habit, the worse it gets for them. I think a different way to go about it would be to get her more active, get her doing some kind of exercise she likes. Go jump rope or hula hoop with her. Maybe she thinks about food too much because she's not active enough. ?

I don't know the answer! You see it everywhere. In fact, I saw a little 4 y/o at the clinic the other day who was not chubby but actually obese. Very sad. Her mother was huge and I'm sure she learned her habits naturally.

The best thing you can do is to keep being a good example, which we know you are Sallie! You may not think it makes a difference but believe me, they notice.

You did a great job on the cupcakes. You should have given them away so your grand daughter wouldn't eat so many. You are such a good person!!! Hopefully the doctor will alert your DIL about her daughters eating habits.

Very cute! My boyfriend allowed my daughter to eat a lot of ice cream and she was a plump little 5 year old. My wish is that her adopted mom taught her how to eat right and let her outgrow her baby fat. My sister had a similar story early on and never grew out of it. Blessings!

Those truly do look like burgers!! You have a real creative flair!! So glad Sean won -it was well deserved!!
I feel sorry for poor Lyla's obsession with food. One thing she should never be allowed is to finish her brother's meals. No wonder he looks so very thin.
My brother always takes his kids to McDonald's, even as adults and will actually finish eating whatever they leave on their plate, just gross and so unnecessary :((
I do hope the Doctor says something. Wish there was a way to take her focus off food and find something for her to get involved in that is physically active and keeps her mind engaged like Sean is doing with Scouts..

    Those are awesome!
Be gentle with your grandaughter... I know the worst part of growing up chunky was hearing about it all the time.

They look it weird to eat something that looks like one thing, and tastes like the exact opposite? LOL. Good luck with your grandaughter. Try not to worry too much. Sometimes these things have a way of working themselves out. You will be there when she needs advice! Other kids can be soooo mean.
