Daisies!

So that whole diabetes educator thing? Yep... she's not a diabetes educator. More or less, they gather tons of information about me, my medical history, and so on. I am required to have certain tests and procedures done with a certain frequency and report the results. And in exchange, I get free diabetes supplies/meds/insulin. Kinda sucks that they're not giving me any useful information, but getting free stuff, I will still follow their rules and provide the info with a smile on my face!

I did call and make an appointment with a diabetes educator. It's not til May 13th, but I have one now. So I will still be getting some education, just on a delayed {and more expensive} schedule.

Today has been pretty good, for the most part. I woke up around 12:45 and made some oatmeal with pb. I chatted with a friend online until it was time to go meet the "diabetes educator", henceforth known as "nosy diabetes lady". When I was done I stopped on the way home and picked up Subway for lunch.

After we ate, we headed to the little nature preserve. It's small, but still pretty cool, especially since it's so close to us. I don't know how we never knew about it. Not much is blooming yet, but there was one small patch of daisies with flowers on them. Otherwise it was mostly still pretty dead there. We're definitely gonna go back in a few weeks when more things bloom, though. I got in 12 minutes of walking, which wasn't much, but 12 minutes better than nothing.

When we finished there, we had to go to the library {again, sheesh} and then to Earth Fare. They had a coupon for grass fed ground beef, so we went to get some. Unfortunately I was like a deer on a path instead of a thinking human, and I chose entirely the wrong way to go at 5 pm. We were stuck in traffic for an hour. Lesson learned on that front! But we did eventually get there and get the beef, so all's well that ends well I guess.

Once we were home it was time to scan store sale ads and make a menu and grocery list. Other than the necessary fresh produce, we're not buying much this week. We've been going a little crazy with money lately, so I thought it was a good idea to cook with what's in the house and try to save some cash next week. So not a whole lot of grocery shopping to do tomorrow.

No exercise tomorrow other than shopping. But a friend is taking the day off work on Friday and we are going to go to the community center together to workout. I'm excited to have a workout buddy, even if it's only for one day. And that will give me extra motivation to get my butt there and do it!

Now it's time for the requisite nose-in-book portion of the evening. Hope everyone has had a great Wednesday!

Spark people has great information on diabetes type 2 articles to read. When my friend James was working on his goals, lowering his weight and lowering his blood sugar levels, I would copy articles from sparks, I thought useful for him. In two years he lost 60 pounds and his most recent blood count was 6.1, which is in the 'normal' range!

He also saw a nutritionist and monitored his blood levels!

Sorry it was a bummer you did not receive advice to use, at least you will be getting the useful supplies, meds and testing materials for free!

I love having exercise buddies at the gym! I'm losing my favorite one tomorrow, and I'm so sad to see her go. It's just not going to be the same.

I'm a reader too, I need to make more time in the evenings. That darn 4:45am wake up call has really put a dent in my evening reading habits!

Keep up the good work, you're doing great!

I wish I had a work out buddy. You sound like me: coupons and ads and meals all checked before going to the store. It helps so much: so many people don't get it.

If I had a nickle for every time I got turned around and headed the wrong way, I wouldn't be so worried about the money that I've been spending on my new grand-baby.,

Your blog made me smile Kat! emoticon You have such a great attitude about stuff at the moment. Good for you! Honestly, the way your brain works (Extremely well!), you could become your own diabetes educator. I am sure you already know an awful lot. You probably could give the "nosy diabetes lady" a run for her money.

Keep up the good work my friend! emoticon

Well look at it this way.. free stuff YAY plus as bad as it seems now it will provide someone you can be accountable to. It may be annoying but it will be worth it!

I love daisies they're my fav flower so I would have been super excited. That and I just love to get out in nature.

I'm really jealous about the grass fed beef. It's sooo hard to find here in Canada though Kroger in Ohio has Laura's Lean which is grass fed. I miss it.

Can you get hubby to go with you to exercise? My hubby and I go it helps us both and we get some time together to boot.

Enjoy your book. I am a HUGE bookworm. What are you reading right now?
