Day 941

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

It was NOT a rest day for me, though it sort of was one for Cooper. It was raining this morning, so he got a short walk, instead of our usual long walk we do in the mornings. But after I walked him the nurse showed up, just to get things off schedule. After the nurse left it had stopped raining so I went for a short run. Just 2 miles today. I also went for a walk, before heading to the pharmacy to pick up a couple prescriptions. I ran into the dreaded sale table of Easter candy at the store, but managed to restrain myself to buying two packages of Peeps. They fit into my nutrition plan for the day, thank goodness. Cooper got two slightly longer walks this afternoon and this evening, but it was still only about 5 miles total for him today, when I usually walk him closer to 10 miles a day. He seems okay with it all. I guess even dogs need a rest day every once in a while. Since today was definitely not a rest day (I also did other exercise throughout the day), I am going to try and make tomorrow a rest day. I just have trouble taking a rest day. I feel out of sorts and restless if I don't get out and walk or run enough. But I know that rest days are important too, and I have run 6 of the last 7 days, and my knees are letting me know it is time for some recovery time. There is a chance of snow overnight, and it is supposed to be cold tomorrow, so it would be a good day to relax inside. It is supposed to warm up a bit on Thursday, and Jeremy and I are considering going kayaking Thursday afternoon. The water is still cold enough to warrant a wetsuit, but at least the air temperature is trending upward.

Even the days that were supposed to be your rest days are an inspiration to me!

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks you're supposed to do with rest or not: you know best of all exactly what your body needs. Mobility is such a blessing, let's all move while we can!

Yes, have to get a rest day in, recommended at least once a week! I don't know how your body keeps up with the relentless exercising! I know I sure can't get away with it!
Keep up the great work!
