I wish I could convey the thoughts and words my cousin uses when explaining Kyle's situation. She's there for each visiting hour at 8, 12, 4, and 8 again. After talking with her on the phone, I just cannot fathom the fear and sorrow she must be feeling right now. She's living every mother's worst nightmare. Her son, lying in an induced coma, struggling for his life.
The ICP (brain pressure) has been steady around 30, so they are putting him on diuretics again, even though they thicken his blood too much. The good news is that his temperature seems to be regulating by itself now and the fluid in the lungs is no longer a concern. They are planning on taking the ventilator out and doing a trach instead. This will keep from doing more damage to his throat and to his larynx. They will also be adding a feeding pen. They have been worried about infection, so this is another reason for the quick procedures now.
Your continued thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
