Fitbit, you're kind of a jerk

Monday, April 21, 2014

Fitbit sends me a weekly email reviewing my previous week's stats. The most recent email including a notation that Wednesday was my least active day, complete with frowny face. So I took a look at last Wednesday.

7983 steps. That's not bad, Fitbit. The frowny face was a little over the top. So y'know what? Right back atcha! emoticon

Frowny faces have no power here.

My daily goal is 9000 steps. I think the email just assigns a frowny face to the user's least active day regardless of whether the person meets their goal.

I wonder what it would do if I got exactly the same number of steps each day.

Wait - was the frowny face because the day was below a certain level (say, 10K steps?) or because it was "least active"? Because in any given period, there will be a "least active" day...in which case, that is extra super jerky.
