Wk 158 Weigh In

Saturday, April 19, 2014

This week was better than last week. Then again, it didn't really take much to make this a better week!

So after my back going out big time last Friday and then posting a big gain on Saturday I had my work cut out for me this week. And by work I mean lots of time spent resting my back and being careful about what and how much I ate :)

Luckily for me there were no family member birthdays or holidays centered around a meal this week. That made my task much easier. On the upside, I spent time in my chair with a big glass of water watching a couple of independent type movies (Mr. Nobody with Jared Leto and Upside Down with Kirsten Dunst) as well as Thor: The Dark World. I also got caught up on the tv show Arrow.

All of that down time has my spine feeling back to normal. For me, normal doesn't mean good, it just means that it doesn't feel like my legs are going to give out right now!

So this morning I hopped out of bed (translation: I slowly rolled onto my side and carefully eased my legs off of the bed while simultaneously pushing my upper body off of the bed. Resulting in me sitting on the edge of my bed so I can slowly start standing up), ran to the bathroom (shuffled while attempting to stand up straight), evacuated liquids from my bladder (peed) and jumped on the scale (carefully stepped onto it, one foot then the other).

Herein lies the results:

Weight : 223.6
Lost : 1.8
Total : 96.4

So I officially erased last week's gain this week. Usually it takes 2-3 weeks to undo a gain, so I was pleased. Although I shook my fist at the scale because what would have been the harm in letting me lose just 0.2 more making it an even 2 lb loss and more than erasing last week's gain??? Stupid scale!

So today I've had my pizza and my glass of Pepsi and have had 7 glasses of water so far.

Tomorrow being Easter I shall dine on the finest roast quail and duck. Lamb and veal will be eaten too, as well as beef stew and fried breads and bacon, lots and lots of bacon! I will be served by virgins ( the good kind, not the "revenge of the nerds" kind) and I will have the juices of many types of fruits dripping from my chin!

Oh wait, I just heard that we're baking a ham for tomorrow and there will be some kind of potato dish as well. And most likely green beans.

Maybe next year I will get to eat and be treated like a Roman Caesar.

Have a great Easter and if you have it off, a great Easter break / Spring break.

Seriously? I jump back in, check in where sparkfriend are - and the first blog I read from you has me cracking up.

Sounds like you're in better spirits than last time I stopped by...glad to get this sense.

Keep up the great work. And hope you enjoyed the ham and potato side dish!

It sounds like you're feeling better; I know, not good. I have the same issue.

Great loss.

Tell me more (message me) about your legs giving out. THis happened to me once in 2011 and I'm experiencing this today as well. Just walking and my leg seems to collapse, but no back pain. Is something like this related to nerve?

Congrats on dropping the weight - that is excellent - especially with not being able to do any exercise! You are a fighter, Ken & I am glad to have you as a friend here. Have a great day!

First off, I am so glad that you RESTED and gave your back a chance to recover as much as possible. And then, WOW, that was actually quite a great week weight loss wise, although I totally get the 0.2 STUPIDITY of your scale. Mine is pretty much the same way. MORONS!

AND .........the last part of this blog was fantastically brilliant! Like, OMG! I was thinking, right up until the end, that your family must put on one heck of an Easter Buffet! The most amazing buffet ever on God's green earth! I admit, however, by the time the virgins showed up I began to see beyond my enormous jealousy of roast quail, duck, lamb, veal and what seemed like truck loads of wondrous BACON .... and was willing in the end to crown you Caesar-King-Slayer .......At least for a day.

A delightful read at the end of my day. emoticon

at least your staying with the plan. trying to lose when your in pain sucks. waiting on double knee replacement and having a mri on left shoulder Tuesday so have to stay on top of my food intake. little I can do for exercise at this point but things will get better!

So glad you are up and around again, maybe you could have a 'caesar' salad so as not to miss out altogether. :)
Enjoy your Easter.
