Credit Card Fraud. Anyone Have Any Thoughts On What's Going on Here?

Saturday, April 19, 2014

I thought someone out there might have an idea or info about this. About a month ago, I noticed a pending authorization on my credit card from Walmart. It was for $0, but still a pending authorization, as though a charge was going to come in. I called and got my card changed, which is very inconvenient.

Here I am with new card, and this morning, there are two pending authorizations from Walmart. Still for $0, but this is making me crazy. I DON'T EVEN SHOP THERE! I called the credit card company and they told me not to worry about it. Still, it makes me uneasy to think that they are still able to access me, even with new number. What's up with this?

Anyone been through this or have info on what gives?

Wishing all my friends a Happy Passover and Happy Easter.

That's kind of scary these days. How strange! I hope you've been able to talk to someone at Walmart..

Jesse, wish there was an answer. Even identity theft insurance is not fool proof. I would call Wal Mart and ask that they call you whenever your credit card is used to verify. I would find out how to make a notation on your credit history too.

Personally, I am not using credit cards anymore.

I agree with Don the other day I received a call from Sears stating that someone was trying to create an additional account in my name ? So I cancelled my cards from Sears - This is what I am saying after I had that Malware attack on my system - even though I had great security , hacker s always get through - so I have upgraded my security even further you know after I wrote that one blog about my Spark page being change - I have just decided to spend cash only and I even gone as far as not using my cash cards from banks - if I need cash I go to the bank write a check and withdraw - Hugs K

I agree with others to get in touch with Walmart and get in touch with someone in authority. This just doesn't sound right. I hope you can get it all worked out.

I would contact your credit card company PRONTO, just as a precaution. They're usually pretty good to strike out such things.

I don't know what's going on but it's definitely unsettling. THINFITKINDVGAN had some good points. I'd do that and make sure your credit card company is keeping an eye on this.

I would definitely talk to a Walmart supervisor and get to the bottom of it. Don't take "No" for an answer from them. Then keep checking your account daily. You don't want one day to see charges made to your account for $100 or more. They need to clear this up for you. It really is adding stress to your life I can tell.

THINFITKINDVGAN has some great advice; I would also consider getting a new account number for that card.

I've had fraudulent charges on 2 of my cards 1 each and years apart. In both situations the banks called me instantly.

In your case call Walmart customer service again. Talk directly to a supervisor. Re-tell this situation and have them do something about it. Ask for a call back within 72 hrs. Get their name and employee # and direct #. Then you keep an eye on your account daily. Don't take anything less than an explanation that sounds legit.
