DD1's new love...

Saturday, April 19, 2014

she mentioned to me about a month or two ago she wanted to learn to play the violin.
Well, dh not wanting her to miss out on a chance to learn something he took us to a store in Lakeland and picked up a used violin and a dvd for her to learn on her own. If she likes it and practices great she can take a class in middle school (if available).

So, now I am planning on picking up my guitar and start practicing as well. My dream is to play Christmas music for the family Christmas morning while they play with their gifts. Then go to my parents and play for my parents.

Anywho, please say a prayer for her. I really hope she has a natural ability.

My children are fairly musically inclined...and just played in a piano recital this weekend. Love seeing all their hard work pay off. Hoping your daughter enjoys learning the violin!!

This is awesome!! :) I'm so happy that you guys are encouraging her interest in music :)
Andrew is learning piano & wants to learn guitar as well. It's funny how when they take an interest & start studying music early, how much easier it comes for them then if you try to do it later as an adult sometimes.
I hope she loves it and stays with it. xxxxx

Scales are where she should start. Get her some book...If you want I'll give you a list.

I hope she learns to love it! Any music is great. My DH learned to play the piano and organ when young. We have a keyboard but he never touches it. Our DD learned piano and never plays but our DS plays guitar in a band part time and loves it. Sure wish I could get the other two motivated.

oh i remember the day when ayyub wanted to play the violin like it was only weeks ago.wait a minute it was only weeks well it was only two months when he gave up and is now into the bass.heaven help us.he is in a music school that loans the instruments luckily as since he has been in the music school he has tried guitar, piano, bongo, acordion(this he kept up for the longest though and was quite good at it and i was surprised when he wanted to try another instrument(maybe he will go back to it)violin and now the bass.which luckily enough is too big to bring home so we are spared that one.donĀ“t get me wrong i love musically instruments but in the learning phase it can grate abit on the nerves.we have a neighbourt above us who plays drums and he and his band(rock)often pratice usually as i am trying to get the kids to bed, lol.and a little girl below us who plays piano(actually she is very talented and a joy to listen too.)then there is zakariya with his guitar.ayman with his guitar, drums and recorder all not tunefully played.get the picture.hope for your daughter and your sake that she learns quickly and will be a natural talent.we used to always put on a family concert at christmas etc when i was small.i have an aunt and uncle who are music professors,my mother was a professional opera singer ,i have cousins who are in bands which are quite populalar in uk.i learnt to play, recorder(all four types)guitar, clarinet and flute.can also play piano and organ a bit along with all the precussion instruments.hope you record your concert when you do it so we can see or hear. emoticon
