Hunting for Easter Eggs in the Snow

Saturday, April 19, 2014

How many times did you have to hunt for eggs in the snow as a kid?? One year my dad hid them inside-including the hard boiled and dyed ones. Stuck one in the window sill behind the couch. Must have gotten knocked or rolled out of the sill and was under the couch by the wall. My mom kept telling us to check for dog poop on the bottom of our shoes since something stunk really bad. So I pull the couch out about a month later to do the heavy vacuuming behind it and voila, there's the culprit! I think that might have been the last year we dyed eggs to hide! We just dyed them and then made deviled eggs!

Oh goodness that story reminded me of the year we didn't find one of our Easter eggs until summer. Luckily it didn't break or start to stink but it was quickly taken outside when it was discovered (behind the couch!).

Loved the story and it brought back many memories of growing up on the east coast with a few Easter Sundays where it snowed. It was rare to be able to wear your pretty new Easter dress, shoes and hat (until I was allowed to say no) without having to wear a winter coat and boots. If today is an indication, Easter should be beautiful here. Hope yours is too, friend.

Easter eggs in the snow - never has happened to me. Can't imagine why not since I lived in Omaha for 13 years but it always seemed to rain at Easter, not snow.

Have a happy Easter, my friend. Hope you get through the catering in one piece!!

I use to love colouring the boiled eggs, I would come up with exotic colours. My parents use to hide Easter eggs and our three Easter baskets inside the house! Have a great Easter!
