Troubled by test results

Friday, April 18, 2014

I got the results of my hair analysis that I sent in the beginning of the month.

My calcium and magnesium is off the charts high. Makes sense. I am sore no matter where the doctor pushes on my skin and muscles plus fatigue, mental drowsiness etc. Excess calcium will be stored in soft tissue and organs when it gets too high in the blood stream.

I went through my supplements when I got home and have put aside the ones that have the calcium and magnesium in them. Then I looked in the refrigerator and checked out the Unsweetened Almond Milk that I keep only for me. Wow it had so much added calcium, so can't have that any more. I will need to find something else for my oatmeal. I really do like to have a milk like liquid to pour in it to cool it off and make it creamy.

My doctor is going to check out which supplements that will help rid me of these minerals. I just hope that it hasn't started to cause kidney or other organ damage.

I am thankful for this alternative medicine doctor. My regular doctor didn't want to do other testing he only wanted to give me more pills.

If you all have comments or suggestions I will welcome them.
Thanks,
Karen

Too much calcium can also cause some circulatory problems. Calcium carbonate and coral calcium are hard for your body to use. These minerals should be chelated so the body can absorb them or they will get deposited where they don't belong. We have found that fish oil. high omega 3's, (cod liver with lemon is very good) can tone down lots of pain. Hope you find what works for you! Oh, BTW, any oils should also be taken with protein so the liver can properly digest them.

Have a great day!

I had high calcium levels once and it triggered some bad things. So be careful with calcium. I hope you can get things straightened out soon!

I have started a new vitamin program with nano vitamins which are absorbed at the cellular level. they are quite expensive but i am feeling better. I think it is important for us to try to keep out vitamin and mineral levels normal. Be careful with the calcium...seems it would be a good thing to be a little on the high side. And magnesium being high is supposed to be good for fibro...I don;t understand why you have pain from that.....some doctors recommend magnesium supplements for fibro patients.
You are right that regular doctors don't do anything but a test or a prescription. I am so tired of the medical profession. I would LOVE to go all natural but unfortunately I need my pain meds and have to jump through hoops to get them.
I hope you will keep me informed on how you are doing and how this doctor helps you.
Hugs,
Sarah

omg. I am on mineral supps for the fm. I was told 1200 mg calcium sup when I had a bone scan, but wondered because some of my other supps, plus drinking almond milk, have it too.

I'm going to be praying for you, me, and all the others doing the same thing.

Thanks for an eye-opening blog.

Calcium from dairy is one thing we need to avoid. Calcium from plant sources and in their natural form - plants! - is a totally different thing. We do need calcium but the right form.

Good thing you have a doctor who is looking for solutions. BTW, everyone I've shared it with has loved your Early Easter Basket!

glad that you are going to an alternative doctor because the other ones just want to push those toxic pills that do nothing but cause more damage.

Karen, get your parathyroid glands checked out. I had high calcium for 10 years (on and off) before my endocrinologist finally figured out it was problems with my parathyroid glands. I was eating very little calcium and was off all suppliments, and my calcium was through the roof. I had surgery last summer and haven't had any problems since then.

Sure hope your numbers come down; keep getting them checked!

I am always warning my sister of taking too much calcium -- and she chews on tums like candy -- so glad you found out and such a shame that your doctor acted that way ... I would definitely change to a new family doctor for sure .... you might also check your vitamin D level as it could also be affecting you .... we found out DH was so super low and it was causing him problems ... he puts liquid vitamin D drops in his morning water and it has upped his levels to normal. Seems like all those things affect each other .... so hope you get to feeling better soon and definitely keep checking on your numbers to see if they come down for you. roc

Wow, I am glad I stopped by and read your blog. I drink almond milk all the time. I also take extra Magnesium because they say it's good for you. I may have to check this out next month when I go to my doctor. My doctor will do anything I want, he is just so proud I am finally getting on the health wagon. Thank you so much for sharing this.

So glad you found alternative medicine doctor and that they checked for this. Caring for my mother made me realize that conventional doctors medicate and don't prevent or find out what caused the problem. I finally found an Integrative Doctor here in NC and am really happy with her. I hope everything works out.
