Well, Saturday I was running in 60 degree weather and what can I tell you, it was great. But you know as they say in Chicago, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes. So typical Spring in Chicago, we had snow on Monday and Tuesday evening for our Pub Run it was in the high 30's. Well, what can I say, I was kind of dragging all day, bummed about the cold weather and debated about ditching the run. But I went anyway and why did I go? A couple of reasons:
1. I knew my friends from the Running 201 Class would be there and be expecting me
2. I wanted to log my minutes for my Team - Tiger Monarchs for the Spring 5% challenge
So when I got to the run and saw my friends, a couple of them said they were temped to skip it, but they knew the others would be there and they did not want to disappoint either. So we went out, had a good run just under 3 miles and went back to the bar and hung out for a beer. This is what is great about running with a group, we kept each other accountable. And being part of a team keeps me accountable for my workout minutes. I have made a commitment to myself and that is important, but sometimes the added nudge of other people counting on you gets you off the couch and out the door for a run or to the gym.
So glad I went for that run - no regrets! I know I would have felt guilty had I not gone. And tonight I will go to the gym for my session with my personal trainer and log more minutes for myself and for my team.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
