Forgiving yourself and your parents

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Today I read a friend's blog, about The Power of Forgiving Your Parents and learned this..."Like me, as a parent, he(her father) did the best he could with what he knew how to do. So if you have a parent that you have not truly set free yet, consider letting them and yourself out of the bondage you've been holding each other in. Offer a new start. You can't change the past but you can be intentional about wholeheartedly building a future together. I dare you."

Yes this spoke volumes to me. It's time to let go of the childhood hurts and disappointments. Those years can never be relived or reclaimed. Those expectations will never be fulfilled. It's time for a new start, a new direction with my parents. It's time to forgive, heal, and start anew!!

Thank you Steven_D. It's soo hard to forgive ourselves, but you made a great point... we are putting our authority over His when we take up the cross we were suppose to lay down at His feet.

We can do this!! We can forgive ourselves!! And we WILL!!

All last week, the weekend and this week I have been hammered by the Good Lord about forgiving myself. He has been telling me I have already been forgiven and I am putting my authority over His by not forgiving myself. So here He is again, through you, saying to me, Forgive Yourself.

To quote a wise person, "It's time to forgive, heal and start anew!!"
