Hair, rads and exercise

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I took a new selfie last Sunday and changed my profile pic to reflect that I have enough hair to cover my scalp now. This is me at almost 13 weeks post chemo.

I'm in the "little boy" phase according to my husband. Only this little boy has wrinkles!

Today is #11 of 33 radiation treatments. Other than fatigue, I'm fine so far. I'm sleeping a lot more again, about 10 hours a night. That's okay. I like sleep!

I've cut back on exercise and have just done 11 minutes on the elliptical today. I will increase it some, but I'm finding that I have to be really careful with my arm on the side that I had the lymph nodes removed and I'm getting radiation in that armpit. I really want to avoid getting lymphedema if at all possible.

It's been crazy windy here every day for the past week, so I haven't been out on my bike. With my arm issues, I'm going to have to take it easy with bicycle riding for the next six weeks. After that, I'll be able to build up some miles. I'm also looking into switching to a recumbent bike (or trike) to take the strain off my arm.

You look great. You have a fantastic smile. You light up. You are doing great. It's good you ate resting and not over working your arm. That dreaded lymphedema. Take care and enjoy your Easter weekend.

Your new selfie is great! You have such a stunning smile and your hair looks really cute! I think it has the potential to be a knockout pixie style as it grows more. You are doing really well with all the exercise you manage to do. Wishing you well with each stage of your recovery.

You make such good decisions --- you should write a book! Glad you're backing off a little to avoid the lymphedema!

You look great. My hair is only slightly longer than yours & I sleep 9 hrs a night. I, on the hand, do not make as many wise choices.

That smile of yours is magnetic! I don't think anything can ever reduce your beauty --- inner & outer! emoticon

I was thinking the same thing about the recumbent bike and your arm. I know you like the elliptical, but the bike might be best for a while.

I agree that sleep is good right now--get all you can!
