Marathon training week 15 and starting 16

Welp, we did it.. the longest run of marathon training. Just a few short days ago, Saturday 12th, my running buddies and I ran 20 miles!

So my co-worker, who is signed up for the race with me, and our other friend that is just running for the heck of it (she does a marathon a year and is scheduled for one in October)... met at my house and headed out about 8:30am. I tried to keep very close control on my watch and timing.. stopping for red lights and bathroom breaks and water refills.
My time was 3:40.. my running buddies had 4 hours.. so I'm not sure where the 20 mins difference was! I know one of them uses a phone app? and don't know if it stops when we stop or not.. Either way, I'm happy.

We ran 19 miles in 4 hours, so even if we ran 20 miles in 4 hours, that is an improvement.. and I think was a 12 min/mile pace.. which is fine.

IT was a nice route that I chose.. had a nice mix of elevations without too steep of declines (which kill my knees).
I stopped and walked a short segment in the last 4 miles.. only a minute maybe. think our pace was a bit stiff? I also took in more fuel to make sure I didn't 'hit a wall'.. but maybe that is what it was?

Anyway.. now the tapering begins! Still have 12 miles to run this coming weekend, but the weekday runs are already cutting back!
It is getting closer!! eeeek! 18 days!

    I am so happy for you - this is great to have this done and feel that confidence is building up.

    You will do great on race day - your training will pay off!
    I did 18 miles (10 days ago) and HM last Saturday, was planning on doing a 19 and 20 miles in the next two weeks (week 13 and 14) but I will have to re-adjust.
    I think I will follow your example and do 19 miles on week 14 & 20 miles on week 16... then taper!

    Yay! It sounds like you are well prepared.

    Not all phone app exercise trackers pause automatically. I use Endomondo; I think you have to pay to get it to auto-pause. (I've paid for the app because I really like it.) I have another paid-for app that doesn't auto pause. So yeah, that's probably the difference between your recorded times.
