10 mile run

Friday I had the day off of work! emoticon There are not many of them for the rest of the year. So full time working, full time half Ironman training, and working on fundraising putting together a Gala event is going to be my life for the next 2 months.

The weather was great on friday and we had a meeting set up to talk to someone about catering a Gala event. It's going to be small in that the venue can only hold 100 people, and well that's fine with me. Small and simple. On the plan for this weekend was a 10 mile run. I haven't ran that far in a long while, but have been slowly building up my miles.

So out the door I went. I got a new garmin watch for Christmas and I LOVE IT! I have it set right now for a 2:1 ratio. Run 2 min, walk 1 min. At this pace I'm able to sustain 10 miles, and finish strong and feel like I could keep going. I'm running at about a 12 min mile pace right now. I know if I can take out the walk brakes that I'll be faster but I'm not ready to do that yet. Once I get my miles up to 13 I will.

Next weekend will be my first race of the year. A half marathon. I feel ready to do it my way. I don't think I will PR it but I should be close to my normal half marathon pace again.

I am still surprised at what I'm capable of doing! After the 10 mile run, I then went to the meeting to talk to the caterer, then the bike shop to get my bike fix. I broke it at the fix a flat clinic! YIKES! It's now fixed and ready to go. I was told to bring it in about mid may for a tune up before the race so I will have time to adjust to the 'fixes' they give it.

Saturday morning I woke up and feel 100% fine. I'm not sore or anything from my training. I am HUNGRY! But I'm burning so many calories right now with all the training I'm doing.

Today I will be on a street corner with some of my crazy team in training friends, begging for money! This should be interesting. I've never done something like this before. I will be in a costume with purple hair! Pictures to come for sure! emoticon

    Perhaps I should try those intervals, I really struggled today with 3 min run/30 sec walk.
