Blowing my own horn, or giving myself a pat on the back -- whatever it is, I'm super happy about it. Today I crossed over 10,000 steps; 10,331 to be exact.
What caused me to change my normal 2,000 to 6,000 steps? I am just tired of losing or gaining the same one to four pounds; over and over and over! Last summer I was doing so well, and my eating habits have been right on, so that leaves the exercise. I usually only do walking mostly for my exercise, and because of an eye problem, I wait for sunset before I go for my walk, so the bright sunlight doesn't bother me as much.
So I knew if I was going to change my exercise mode, then I had to get more time in for my walks. That meant getting up earlier. So this morning I jumped out of bed at 6:30 a.m. and immediately headed out for a brisk walk. It was a cool 66F so it felt just wonderful, and before we knew it we had walked 1.6 miles. Well, actually Amber knew it and was really dragging when we got home.
I, on the other hand, was elated. I had walked 4500 steps and it was only a little after 7:00 a.m. I normally am sound asleep, dreaming and feeling cozy.
The day passed by and I added little bits of movement above and beyond what I normally do. One of the things was vacuuming the inside of our SUV, not an easy task but for some reason I did not feel tired. I did take a nap around 4:00 because I did not sleep well the night before. Before I knew it the sun was going down and it was time for another walk. Thinking about how healthy Amber and I were getting, off we went. Had a healthy protein smoothie for my dinner and now I'm almost ready for bed.
With my new schedule I'll be up and have plenty of time to get in our walk and still have plenty of time to go to church. WooHoo! I hope this streak lasts forever!
