Wk 157 Weigh In

Today, 4/12/14 marks my 3 year sparkversary, yay.

This wasn't a great week. My back has been giving me fits for the last couple of weeks and it got worse this week. I've been getting "twitchy" feelings everyday and that's not a good sign. It usually signals the the back is going to go out. So last night my best friend who now lives 8 hours away was in town and we met up at the tattoo studio he used to work for. We ended up standing around for 4 hours, just hanging out with one of the artists and an apprentice and their girlfriends.

I came home about 11:45 and my back was really twitchy. As I stepped out of my truck, I sneezed. That is not a good thing to do when you have a bad back and you're in a twisted position. I made it a few steps and then collapsed, legs totally buckling under me. Luckily I was quick enough to throw myself across the hood of a car parked beside me, which kept me from hitting the ground. I finally got back upright and walked a bit further and it hit again. This time I fell across the hood of my truck, saving me from the ground once again. Once I got stood up and started moving again it tried to go out again and I just held myself between the truck and a brick wall. I eventually made it into the house.

Anyway, on to the numbers:

Weight : 225.4
Gain : 1.8
Total : 94.6

For the record, today kind of sucks because of my back. My left leg has been real shaky all day and I'm shuffling more than actually walking.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm currently floating on Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) muscle relaxer.

    Oh my goodness!!! I hope the medicine will give you some type of relief. I am always amazed at how much you've accomplished on this journey with such a horrible injury. I messed up my back for ONE WEEK from improper form while exercising and it was hard to do ANYTHING! Don't worry about the up and take care of you. You'll be back on your feet in no time!!

    Ken, Is there anything you can do for the back? I am in a similar boat. The couch and I have our mid night rendevouz around 3am until 6 or so until it's time to get up. Not a fun way to live. MRI shows pinched nerves and doc says surgery.

    That is suckful ~ so sorry that you have to go thru this & I wish there was a way we could take away the pain. I'm glad you have the muscle relaxers to rely on. Do hope you enjoyed your time with your friend before all this happened :)

    Oh Ken... I am horrified to read this. I can imagine the dreadful pain! I am glad you didn't fall though as it would have been very hard to get up again being in so much pain... I really hope you feel better today.

    As anyone here I am reading your blog in horror. Ooh the first collapse....ahh ouch the second vehicle.....can anything be done?

While I complain about my knees/hip and or foot I realize a back issue is totally a game changer. Can you do anything to strengthen it or the muscles supporting your back so that this is not a problem?

The good news is that weighing almost 100 pounds less has to have improved the situation....if there is any good news. Congrats on your anniversary! emoticon

    OMG!!! Ken! This is horrible and I hate that you are suffering this!!! I understand ONLY some of what you are dealing with - although NOT from my own experience but from two family members who have experienced nearly the same kind of episodes. From knowing what they have gone through, I could immediately predict your next words when you mentioned sneezing and my heart went out to you. And it still does! Honestly, you need to not only take care of yourself BUT you also need to have someone there taking care of you right now. The thing is, while the muscle relaxer has to be like a God send right now, (UNDERSTANDABLY SO), it might also cause you to move about more than you should. I'm sure you know not to do that -------BUT ------- please remember NOT to do that!
Let your back relax and rest your body as much as you possibly can - IT NEEDS THIS .... and know that we care about you so very much and will be sending you good thoughts daily. I truly hate that this has happened to you and wish there was more that I could do for you than just saying "take care" ... But at least for the time being I will say "float away" ... I would surely want to do the same if in your situation!

As for your weigh-in .... it is no matter right now. When you feel good again you will do what you need to do. You always do!
