Next week I have 2 weddings to attend. One will last a week and one the usual 1 day. Both religious ceremonies are on Saturday.
Now how is someone expected to find time to work inbetween?...LOL
Ok First the simple 1 day wedding: A friend from my time at German School is finally tying the knot with his long time life-in Girlfriend with whom he has 3 kids. So I will go for the church wedding and then excuse myself. His Relatives will have to figure out themselves, why this white woman shows up in church in an Indian Suit.... LOL Because I will have to rush from there straight to the temple (other side of town) for the next ceremony.
the Indian wedding is in the family of very close friends. So close in fact that the groom considers BF & myself as family and he introduced me as his aunt to his bride.
He is a cute guy who will make her a wonderful husband.
They are Hindus, so I will be priviledged to participate in a full Hindu wedding.
It all starts on Tuesday when they will have the first Family dinner. Lots of relatives are coming over from England, so it is easier to have family dinners at the grooms families house. They will be serving 3 meals a day there, but I am excused for breakfast & lunch since I am working - which is good, since I would blow up like a balloon with all the goodies they are going to serving. I mean the smell alone puts about 3 pounds on your hips.... LOL
On Thursday there will be the official engagement. Indians have usually 2 "engagements, the first where the families officially meet and make the connection official, that was several months ago. Now the actual engagement. I understand the Hindu actually exchange rings.
I will be wearing this:
t comes with the grey trouser & headscarf you can see peeing out on the hanger. Bought it last week
In the evening I will change back into normal clothes, since we will have the Mendhi ceremony, where the women put Henna on their hands - will be messy.... Problem is always you get the food after the Henna has been put, now you have problems eating...
On Friday there are several other ceremonies, not sure what they are, but I think we don;t need to dress up.
On Saturday is the wedding in the temple. And on Sunday is the wedding reception. I will wear the following 2 outfits, just not yet sure which on which day:
It will be another amazing experience
