Making Tracks

Thursday, April 10, 2014

A new Spark friend recently posted this brief message.

Tracking = Success!

For me truer words have never been spoken. I am so clearly one of those people who achieve the best results through the practice of structure and accountability and when I track I am much more successful than when I don't. When I am holistically tracking my food, my fitness and my feelings, really good things happen. I begin to move in a positive direction and I start to see the results I ultimately seek.

Tracking is not hard. So, why do I resist doing it sometimes? It is so clear to me that when I am not tracking, it's because I am messing with my plan and I don't want to face the evidence of my poor choices. The crazy thing is that not tracking hurts me in the long run and tracking, even the poor choices, could actually help me to more quickly get back on track when I derail! Not tracking doesn't mean that whatever I did didn't happen, it just means I am deceiving myself and avoiding the truth.

I am keeping things simple today and playing this little mantra over and over in my head;

Tracking = Success!
Tracking = Success!
Tracking = Success!
Tracking = Success!
Tracking = Success!
Tracking = Success!

Makes me want to go post something on one of my trackers right now. emoticon
