I was just checking on you, to see how you are doing.
I watched your Vlog and I have a couple of hints for you.
One.... Ya might want to get a cat. We have fruit trees and if we didn't have a cat we would have RATS.

Two. If you found time to make a menu for the week you would have an easier time of it all. What I do is plan 5 nights and cook enough that everyday we have left overs for the next days lunch and sometimes that means we squeeze another meal or two out of leftovers. I make up the menu and then go shopping for the ingredients. I use a cookbook to look up new recipes for different vegetables and sometimes the internet. My current favorite is Spaghetti squash instead of pasta and I just add olive oil and diced tomatoes and parmesan cheese. I bake the spaghetti squash in the oven on a foil lined cookie sheet face down after removing the seeds. You could also put marsala sauce or pesto on it. Then I make a big salad and I cut up celery and carrots and olives and bits of cheese and some seeds in it. I use to only eat creamy dressings but now I am crazy for olive oil and lime with salt and pepper and a drop of tabasco sauce. I love the bar b qued veggies like your husband did. We just broil them in the oven toped with salt and pepper and parmesan cheese. Tonight we had fresh tomatoes broiled.
I also have been going crazy with soup recipes lately. Soup tends to fill you up more or maybe just take longer to eat, but it is working our for us. I get recipes from a soup cookbook I have or off of the internet. This week we had carrot soup. The recipe was delicious and I posted it on the team site. We also had cabbage soup. DH liked it better than I did. One night when I was sick he made potato soup and we often have chicken and rice or chicken noodle soup. Which we make from scratch. We cheat with boxed chicken stock. But it is fast. Let me know if you want any of the recipes. The carrot soup is way better than it sounds
Good luck
Fran
