I know that cookies and cakes are my weakness. When I decided to go on my diet cleanse, added sugar was one thing I knew I really wanted to cut out. And I was doing really well! I lost about a pound a week when I was carefully watching my sugar, along with dedicating myself to my workouts. And when I saw that I was doing really well with my weight loss, I thought "one little _____ won't hurt." "I can have some ______ tonight, it won't be a big deal." But added up, it *Is* a big deal. I haven't put any weight back on, but I have been at a plateau for a few weeks. Sometimes a plateau happens, I know that. But this time it got me to look closely at my diet and see what I've been eating that's been keeping me from getting to where I want to be.
So what do I see on my food log in the last month that wasn't there before? Lots of stuff that I should definitely be eating less of. French fries, restaurant food, vegan chocolate chip cookies and cookie bars (Whole Foods has an AWESOME cookie that frequently calls my name), extra bread... I'm committed to getting back on track with my eating. Cutting out the added sugar, having snacks ready so I don't let myself get hungry (which almost always leads to cookies and/or chips), and taking my water bottle with me everywhere. The whole point of buying my water bottle was so that I'd have water with me all the time.
I've gotten into a great running routine - I am working on adding regular strength and cross training into my week. I'm learning to be honest with myself about my workout habits - like if I don't do a workout first thing in the morning, I don't do it, no matter how much I tell myself that I will.
Time to do some work...
