So, last night was my first workout in my new/continued running program since I officially committed to training for this marathon in September. My goal this week is to run 3 to 4 miles 4 days this week and one longer 5-6 mile trek this weekend. I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill at work, AFTER work ( I manage a physical therapy clinic on Maui, Hawaii). Running after work vs. early morning does have it's own challenges but I seem to have greater success than when I was forcing my self (and failing) to get up early to exercise.
I ran just over 2 miles steady and then did faster sprint intervals for the last mile and a half. 2 to 3 minutes on/2 min off. I also did lunges with 8 lb weights and some other static light weights before calling it a night.
To make this happen though, my lunch hour was spent prepping dinner so that my kids could easily pop dinner into the oven and start it cooking while I finished. It worked but one of my goals in the near future is to get a little more organized and motivated to do some freezer cooking to help with dinner meal prep during the week! Wish me luck!!
Tonight my goal is to do the same basic workout as last night and see if I can start an exercise streak. Until tomorrow!
