The Plan' by Lyn-Genet Recitas - Could it work for you?

I just typed this as a comment in response to a blog where a Sparker was discussing the fact that despite her new healthy lifestyle her cholesterol is still high. It occurred to me that, just as I was helped when a sparkfriend mentioned 'The Plan' to me in December, perhaps someone else might be helped so I decided to copy my 'comment' into a blog. 'The Plan' has been a miracle to me - could it help you?

I've never had high cholesterol (it doesn't run in my family) but I have battled high blood pressure for about 15 years. Although I was at my goal weight, when another Sparker mentioned 'The Plan' by Lyn-Genet Recitas to me I was curious and checked it out on and on the website . I was intrigued enough to order the book and after reading it, to try the 20 day plan (I started in early January of this year). I didn't stick to it exactly but rather 'tested' the foods that make up my normal eating plan. The results? I lost 7 more pounds and my blood pressure dropped significantly. I am maintaining that loss (which put me at a lower weight than I've been at in over 35 years) and finding it (the eating plan) easy to stick with.

I say all this because cholesterol is one of a number of diseases Lyn-Genet says her clients have 'healed' by eating foods that their bodies don't react to. That is why I tried the Plan - because she also said her clients had been able to quit BP meds. I began weening myself off BP meds last month (by first cutting the pill in half then taking a half every other day) then as of the first of this month quitting them completely.

Words can't describe how thrilled I am to be off prescription meds!! I'm 66 years old and have been trying to get off BP meds for years. I lost weight, upped my exercise, cut my sodium - in other words did everything I'd heard of to control my blood pressure. While my BP got better, when I'd try to quit the meds it would go right back up.

Would 'The Plan' work for you? I don't know - but it is certainly working for me!! You might want to investigate it - what do you have to lose? I love that unlike so many eating plans, it is geared to MY BODY - I'm eating many foods traditional 'diet books' say are definite no-nos! What I'm not eating is OATMEAL - because my body reacts to it with inflammation! WHAT?? I'd been eating oatmeal almost every morning before 'The Plan'. But I CAN eat a baked potato with real butter with no weight gain - who KNEW??

    Thank you for your response to my blog and for sharing your personal experience of the plan. I have to admit it sounds intriguing and promising. And since high blood pressure is not an easy thing to fight against, your success in quitting the meds really makes me want to try it. I know my doctor will advise me to turn to meds to control my cholesterol but I would really like to try one last battle!

    I started the Plan in January 2013 to get rid of a few pesky Christmas pounds that had crept up.. My goal was to lose 10 pounds and over the next 3-4 months I lost 17! I was thrilled to be at my "low weight" again! I have fairly easily maintained my weight within a 5 pound range (and a blip up of 3 pounds over Christmas). The food is wonderful and I love her recipes. It confirmed that wheat was not my friend but corn tortillas in moderation were ok - I can still have the occasional mexican street food!

    As a weight loss plan, it works but takes a bit more concentrated effort than counting calories.

    The Plan REALLY shines as an all over health improver, IMHO.
    People report relief from arthritis pains, fibromyalgia, headaches, as well as lower blood pressure, among other things.

    I have a similar story to yours, Marilyn, other than I am not near goal weight YET.
    How The Plan menus seem to be different is that they are higher potassium, magnesium than my counting calories menus had in the past, (I have been low sodium for years!) - the higher potassium, magnesium to lower sodium ratio may well be what affects the BP so well. I am now down to what my Dr says is just a "spit" of BP med a day and am hoping to get the okay to jump off the BP meds this summer! (nothing I have tried has affected my BP as well as working The Plan.)

    It does take some effort though.
