My Next Big Adventure.

Tuesday, April 08, 2014

In less than 2 days we are off emoticon on our next big holiday. We are flying first to Miami for 5 days but it will take almost 30 hours from home to Miami hotel, flying and waiting at LAX and Atlanta airports. We sure are a looong way from US and Europe!

On Tue 15th we board the emoticon for an 18 day cruise to Seattle. I've wanted to go to Panama Canal and I am going to be there on Sat 19th! The day before we stop at Cartagena in Colombia.

After leaving Balboa we have a day at sea and then it's Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica. Our next 4 ports are in Mexico, Puerto Chiapas, Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and the final on Sunday 27th is Cabo San Lucas. I've heard of a couple of those towns but am not familiar with that part of Central/North America. It will be fun getting to know it!

We then have another day at sea and on Tue 29th we dock at San Diego for 8 hours!

The next port of call is Victoria, BC where I am being met by my Spark Friend L*I*T*A*. How cool is that! She'll even be holding a big sign saying 'ILOVEROSES' waiting on the pier. I bet she'll be the only person with a sign that day. We are going to do the town with her and her DH.

Our ship departs Victoria at midnight and we arrive in Seattle on Sat morning. We will spend 4 days there and then go to Vancouver for a week.
Then it's time to fly home.

It will be almost 5 weeks by the time we get back home.
I am hoping the weather in Florida will be warm and expecting warm days while we cruising and stopping at ports in Central America and Mexico.

When we get home it's going to be quite cool because it Autumn/Fall already here.

I am not taking any coats or jackets, just a windcheater and a long sleeve top and hope it's gonna be enough.

Not sure whether I'll be able to blog much while travelling, depending on internet access.

Yes, I have a new rain jacket that I bought in Tasmania on the Gordon River cruise. It's conveniently packed in a draw string bag. I am also taking a bright red fleecy windcheater that's light but warm.
We went to Seattle 3.5 years ago and loved walking around Pike Place Market.

    Sounds absolutely wonderful!

But carry at least a warm sweater (jersey? jumper? cardi??) and a rain jacket - Seattle and Victoria are both rainy and cool throughout the spring and into early summer. Trust me, I've lived in that area, and the weather is about 15-20 C until July. Sometimes even through much of the summer. And wet. It'll be cooler on the water, too. So while you won't need warm clothes for most of your trip, you definitely will for the northern part of the trek.

Have a great time! In Seattle, be sure to go to Pike Place Market - you'll love it! Sort of a smaller Victoria Market, and more spread out. With a view of Puget Sound at the same time!
