The highs and lows

Monday, April 07, 2014

So today is day one of the "Drop a Ton" challenge at work. The goal is to have us lose 2,000 pounds combined. So many of us signed up it works out to 4-5 pounds each. No way will I be happy with that! Two months and I plan on losing more than 5 pounds.

For the initial weigh-in I was beyond depressed - my heaviest ever. Too much GF specialty food and not getting my heartrate up enough I'm sure. So today I officially started being grain free, not just gluten free. May try going back to rice, quinoa, and corn after I get my stomach back on track after all the GF bread. Goal is to just eat clean.

Also started my walking on my break today. That was a good walk, even though I tracked it wrong. I'm looking at minutes anyway so it's ok. Tried taking the babies for a walk this morning - they were not fans!

I gave in and went shopping after work for jeans. I have several in the next smaller size and was putting off buying any wanting to fit into the ones I have. Well, I only have one decent pair left that I can wear and my khakis are getting stained so I've been wearing my yoga pants on the weekends. So with my parents coming to visit in a couple weeks I decided to just bite the bullet and get a couple pair from Goodwill. I was really worried because I did NOT want to buy bigger pants. I started with the bigger size, but they didn't fit, so I ended up with my current size after all. Small miracle, but I'll take it!

It's nice being in the competition. I miss that with my old job, so was excited to get started. The kick in the a$$ I need to get back on track. And now I'm not so odd drinking my spinach or kale smoothies emoticon

Sounds like you are on the right track. Plus I am envious that you drink the spinach and/or kale smoothies. I have tried them several times and can never seem to stick with it, but they are so healthy. I should try again.
