I am not sure why I do this to myself - I am like a little hamster on a training wheel going around-and-around-and-around and not getting anywhere. It is not as though I don't know why I put on weight, the question is - why do I keep doing this to myself?

Here is what happened. I did not see the results I wanted to see even though I felt like I was doing so much sacrificing. I was getting up extra early to get my exercise in, I was being careful with what I ate (for at least one or two days) and then I said, "Why should I have to be so careful with what I am eating? Everyone else just goes through life and eats whatever they want - why can't I do that". So I did - sort of - and gained two pounds. So here I am - not happy with the results so.....

Back to my program!

1) Read my daily affirmation EVERYDAY - several times each day!!
2) SLEEP IS IMPORTANT!!! MAKE IT A PRIORITY!!! I thrive on 8 hours of sleep each night - I have a better attitude in my day - and I can stay focused on my goals more. See what I can do to get 8 hours of sleep each night!!
3) I am 45 years old!! I can't eat whatever I want to anymore AND stay in the shape I want to - that is a fact - get use to it!!
4) Eat no more than 1600 calories a day - until I get my weight down to 132lbs!!
5) If I want to eat more food at my meals - add more veggies to the plate!!
6) I enjoy exercising - really! So make it a part of each and every day !!!

Here we go again!! This time will be success :)

I think many of us ask ourselves the same question. Developing a plan and following through WILL get resulfs. Consistency is the key. And even when the scale doesn't affirm our hard work, that's when we have to hang in there even the more. Love your blog!

obviously SO many of us deal with this exact thing!
I am just dusting myself off from a 3 week binge and a 15 lb gain after 3 weeks of intense exercise and eating healthy and losing 10.

I asked myself the same question WHY do I keep doing this!?

I am 43 and have been losing and gaining the SAME 15 lbs for a year now! And this time I put weight back on so fast that my body literally aches!!!! BAD!! And my clothes don't fit :(

Today was a decent day...ate pretty well, about 1527 cals and took a short walk. It wasn't a HUGE accomplishment. It wasn't the normal 1 hr treadmill work out or 30 min kettle bell work out that I use to do, but it was something and definitely better than the couch and purge routine I had going for the last 3 weeks. Day #1 .....

I just need to remind myself, I am not the only person finding losing weight or keeping weight off a challenge. I am not the only over weight person exercising and hating it. And I am not the only person who feels deprived at times.

Thank you so much for this post. I had fallen off my course as well, and getting back up has been a challenge. Even though I know where I want to be, staying down seemed to be the better option since I have fallen so many times. Your post gave me hope and renewed my strength and resolve. It reminded me of a story that I had a few weeks ago. The race is not given to the swift or the strong but to the one who endures to the end, so I might not finish first or be the biggest loser, but I will finish this race. With people like you in my corner and support team how can I help but to lose, the weight. I am a finisher, I will get up and run my race and finish strong.

Ann all I can say is you should never have to feel like you are sacrificing! Now that I think of it as I began my weight loss journey I also felt resentful that I couldn't keep eating all those potato chips etc. After reading tons of nutrition articles I made small baby steps in changing what I ate. I had to feel full! I finally went to whole wheat and grains. Good luck and I know you can do this! Keep plugging away. Wasn't it wonderful that you were able to get back on track! It's always nice knowing when I get back on track I will start feeling so much better!

Focus! Make sure you aren't "sacrificing" foods that you want or crave. Have smaller portions of them and make them a treat. (This is the pot speaking to the pot here!!!)
We can do it!
