I've learned a lot from Spark Coach "Sparkguy" today. He say's, if you're truly going to stick with your healthy lifestyle for the long haul, you must master the ability to pick yourself up after you've failed. As we always say, consistency not perfection- is the key to your success!

Well, working out of town on a business trip, can be very hard to eat right, plus trying to get some exercise in and being motivated to sticking with your healthy lifestyle, that you have chosen.
On Monday, before work, I worked out by riding the bike for 30 minutes and made lunch for me and husband, whole wheat pita, turkey and cheese, lettuce, tomato w/light mayo.
Dinner at Country Buffet, I know a buffet, but you can chose healthy food there. So I had lots spinach salad w/vegies and vin.dressing, broccoli soup (1cup), (1) roll, (sm) steak w/ sweet potatoes, herb fish w/ brown rice and grilled vegies, (1/2cp.) soft ice cream, (1) choc.chip cookie.

As you can see, I probaly went over my calories for the day, but with the walking and up and down from the van, is exercise and I need the energy to stay up 12+ hours a day to work.
I may make mistakes on my journey and not make the best choices of what I'm eating, but I don't give on hope that I can try again the next day and my work is only Monday-Friday for a week, in a month. So I can get back on track.
Everyday on the route, before I eat, I try and think what would be the better food choices for me and I try my best to eat right. It's hard to get to a grocery store in the middle of no where and most of the time for lunch, it's Subway and Breakfast it's at the Hotel and I usually eat yogurt, a fruit, hard boiled eggs, no gressy sausage for me, a bran muffin. Eating out for dinner can be a hard one also.
Before I work for that week. I bring healthy stuff to eat, like fruit, vegies, cheese and turkey sticks, protein bars, fat free crackers, pretzels and trail mix.
Life is a challenge, but I look forward to it everyday, thanks for Sparkpeople and my Sparkfriends, I couldn't do it without you!

    Keep it up - you will get there. You are doing great and you are right - travelling and healthy eating are more challenging but it sounds like you made some good choices there. emoticon

    You really are doing so well, just as Spark Guy says, that the main thing is consistency. I know for myself, that if I don't do everything right each and every day, I still have that consistency to claim. I'm at home every day on the farm because of not being able to work out because of RA and you'd think that would be easy, but it's not always either. We just do the best we can with whatever lifestyle we happen to live and I'd say that you're doing awesome with what you have to deal with! I'm trying to do my best too. We won't ever give up and that's the main thing! I admire you so much! Hugs, Karen

    Wow, that does sound like a challenge to be able to eat healthy with your lifestyle, but it sounds like you've mastered it. Way to go, girl! And it never hurts to splurge every once in a while, like at a buffet restaurant, as long as you pick yourself right back up after you fall down. You are such an inspiration to me! Thank you so much for being my friend.
